Dress for the Weather

It’s sunny, rainy or snowy today. Pupils choose what to wear from picture cards, such as a sun hat, wellies or gloves, and hear why it helps: “Wellies keep your feet dry in puddles.” Pick one thing, or find two. A good fit for morning routines and the weather board.

For EYFS–KS3. About 5 minutes. Emotions & social. Low sensory, no reading needed, works without sound.

What pupils practise

• Know which clothes suit sunny, rainy and snowy weather
• Explain why: keeping warm, dry or cool
• Make everyday dressing choices more independently

Tips for teachers

• Play it with the morning weather board.
• Use real clothes from the dressing-up box as well.
• Ask “why?” before the game says the reason.
• Try “find two” once pupils can find one.
